Week 7

This week we had classes with Mr. Martin to check the progress of our Animatics as well as give us feedback.

INSTRUCTIONS

Week 1

In the first week, We created a chat group to make communication a whole lot easier. We discuss the project we will be doing and break down the parts of the scripts.

Fig. 1
Next, we discuss the parts we would want to do for further projects and most have voted to do the 1st chapter. Then we discuss a few things we didn't understand such as sensitive information, what kind of motion graphic we need to do, etc.

A few days after, we choose our group leader and we as well made our slide for our next class presentation. The slide consists of some details about what we will be doing and making for the animation.

Group 4Moodboard Link

While making the slide we also had other projects needed to do, so sometimes we did a few group meetings to make plans and give ideas, making clear what each person needed to do.

Flip 1

For flip 1, we discuss and divide our task, making it faster to finish the slide as well as doing it together for easy communication about things that may be good or not to place in the slides.

Below is the Flip 1 Slide.

Since we need to also make a video presentation, I and Lene volunteer to do it. we both discuss which part we will take and record this separately. Give the finished recordings to the leader for him to edit and combine. We did this to avoid mistakes and repeat of making the video.

Below is the final video.

Week 2
Text Animation
For week 2 we were also given another task of animating words and syncing them with the song.
Fig. 3

We discuss this in the chat and thinking about what song do we choose, we tried to consider a shorter song but most of the songs contain different words, so we choose a song that has plenty of repeated words.

This was our first choice.

This is our second choice.

This is the 3rd choice.

After a few discussions and fun, while choosing the song, we had decided to make the 3rd song for our animation. We did a breakdown of the lyrics.

I've been reading books of old
The legends and the myths
Achilles and his gold
Hercules and his gifts
Spider-Man's control
And Batman with his fists
And clearly, I don't see myself upon that list

But she said, where'd you wanna go?
How much you wanna risk?
I'm not lookin' for somebody
With some superhuman gifts
Some superhero
Some fairy-tale bliss
Just something I can turn to
Somebody I can kiss

I want something just like this
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
Oh, I want something just like this
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
Oh, I want something just like this

I want something just like this

I've been reading books of old
The legends and the myths
The testaments they told
The moon and its eclipse
And Superman unrolls
A suit before he lifts
But I'm not the kind of person that it fits

She said, where'd you wanna go?
How much you wanna risk?
I'm not lookin' for somebody
With some superhuman gifts
Some superhero
Some fairy-tale bliss
Just something I can turn to
Somebody I can miss

I want something just like this
I want something just like this

Oh, I want something just like this
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
Oh, I want something just like this
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

Where'd you wanna go?
How much you wanna risk?
I'm not lookin' for somebody
With some superhuman gifts
Some superhero
Some fairy-tale bliss
Just something I can turn to
Somebody I can kiss
I want something just like this

Oh, I want something just like this
Oh, I want something just like this
Oh, I want something just like this

Then we choose who is getting which part of the song.

Animation
Next, we discuss about what kind of animation we want to make. Here below are a few videos we look at as a reference.

While looking at the reference, we also discuss the color scheme and type font we would use for the later animation.
Fig. 5

This is our color scheme.
Fig. 6

This is an example given by our leader.
Fig. 7

This is the drive folder for the kinetic typography.

It contains the cutted audio for easy combining when we all finish with our part and other materials for the animation making.

While making the animation and sending a part of my progress, the leader points out my mistake and help me how to fix it.

This is the final result of the Kinetic Typography of all members.

Week 3
Continuing our final project, this time we are going to make the breakdown of the script given byMr. Martin.

This is the breakdown.

Flip 3
This week we were given another flip task describing Miller's Law, what it is used for, etc. We discuss and divide our tasks like usual. At first, I did it wrong and the leader point it out and explain to me what I actually should put into the slide.

Fig. 8

Below is our final slide.

And this is our group recording for Flip 3.

Week 4
This week we start thinking about our final animatic project. Our leader already has divided the parts, so all we need to do it to choose and make the animatics.
Fig. 9

But before we make the animation, we first discuss a few things about this project, because unlike other projects this time we need to be consistent.

So we decide things such as what kind of art style we need to follow, size, resolution, and the Type Font that will be used in the Animation.

Week 5
This week we are showing our sketches for the animation to the teachers. The teachers gave us some feedback about parts that needed to be improved.

Below is the video.

The next day, we discuss having a group meeting as well as how we are going to divide the work.
We were considering between doing it individually like our previous task or dividing it between the illustration team and the animation team.

Doing it individually does make me nervous because we all had different styles of drawing and design. Then we had a group meeting. In there, we make tacit agreement of what styles, font, and colors we will follow for our animation. We also do it individually like before.

Here is some references we are using for the animation.
Fig. 9.1

Fig. 9.2

Fig. 9.3

We decide to make a flat image instead of the doodle style that we had first agreed on at the start of the project, and the color will follow like Fig. 9.1

Week 6
After a few days of doing both illustration and animation below is the result.

1st compilation

Week 7
This week we submit the finished video of the final project, and the teacher gave us some feedback. Some part has a very good animation but the problem is that our animation is not consistent, there are different art styles, and there was also different type font in the video.

He also points out that the doctor that I design should just be green and he also to me to try to improve it by giving what most doctors have on them like a coat and stethoscope.

after the feedback, we discuss with the team again in the chat, and this time I want to change and modify some parts of the animation and replace them. Unfortunately, the file got corrupted but luckily I still have the Illustration, so I just need to make some new illustrations to match my team style.

Below is the finished animation.

With the other members who also have finished fixing their part, next is just to add sound effects or SFX into the video.

Final Animation - (Team)

FEEDBACKS

Week 7

The art is inconsistent and also the type font.
